One Minute Ministry

The Church and Christ has been an instrumental part of my life’s journey. My absolute faith has made me a better person. It has led me to form and strengthen all my relationships. It has allowed me to be open and share God’s Word to people I meet and my friends who do not know Christ. The Holy Spirit shakes my every word in excitement upon sharing my faith. I spread the Word of Christ by my actions and through the love and empathy I give to everyone I meet.

I have an ever longing NEED to be filled with the love of Christ. I satisfy these needs through my daily prayers and Mass, as well as on my Hallow App on my phone. I have enjoyed learning about the Catechism and Bible in a Year. I have a routine set up with many different prayers and readings on the app that are read to me every day. Through a more intense and compassionate relationship with Christ, I have found that BY HIS GRACE, I have been forgiven of my sins. Jesus saved me from two heart attacks in my twenties. He continues to give me every breath I take, and I will forever be His.

Giving back...giving back to your parish, to me, is not just donations or your weekly contribution. In June, I started helping as a lector at Wednesday morning Masses at St. Francis Xavier. I am on break now that school has resumed. Recently, my nephew Joseph has started as an altar server. Just these two small involvements with my family have sparked many conversations. This month starts my 2nd school year with the Discipleship Formation; helping teach 8th graders on Wednesday nights.

By getting involved, you are giving back to this community and changing the lives of those around you. Coming to Mass is the first step. I have horrible anxiety. I never thought I would make it through a night of 8th graders. I did, and it was an incredible time. A friend of mine, my cousin and my sister also teach Catechism. This is how I was introduced and became involved.

Donate your time, your spirit and knowledge. Satisfy your calling by getting involved if you can. For me, by being involved with Church, I am filled by the Holy Spirit in some way every single day.

One of my favorite Bible verses was in our Gospel on Monday, September 16th: The Healing of a Centurion’s Slave -Luke 7: 6-7, 9

“Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof. Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed."

Every time in Mass before communion we recite this as a community and family in Christ. Te humility, trust and faith in Jesus that was shown by this centurion is a miracle! The Word of Jesus’ teaching and miracles were spread to areas that the most unlikely people would believe. And here, Jesus states: “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.”
