Weekend Wisdom - September 29th, 2024
What would a typical day in the life of a priest look like? Well, to be frank, there is not a typical day in the life of a diocesan priest.
Perhaps the only consistent aspect of any day in the priesthood is celebrating the Holy Eucharist and experiencing Jesus in those with whom the priest comes in contact. The needs of all the parish family activities, hospital and nursing home visits, business and maintenance meetings, schedules so diverse that it's hard to predict how the day will go. That's part of the great joy in serving God as a diocesan priest.
Our priests must “Put on the Armor of God” (Ephesians 10:18) daily. We are truly blessed to have had Fr. Mike over these past years as he is willing to roll with the changes of the church as a whole at both St. Mary and St. Francis Xavier as they are continually evolving and growing. As it is said “The only thing that is consistent is change”.
We have had new priests and priests from foreign lands come into our parishes under Fr. Mike’s guidance and I have seen only the love they and Fr. Mike have had for their calling to serve God and all the parishioners while learning new customs! We are called to be an extension of the church to bring others to God and the Mass. When we support each other through prayer, kindness, gratitude and in deed we are doing God’s will. Please pray for our priests and all priests. Thank you dear Fr. Mike, Fr. Micheal and all our priests.
Many blessings to you and your families,
Ellen Moore
