Weekend Wisdom, February 12th, 2023
This weekend we hear from Ellen Moore, Coordinator of Pastoral Care and Evangelization.
As we celebrate St. Valentine's Day and look forward to Lent, pray we may always put God first, and with a heart of gratitude and thanksgiving, may we always bestow these gifs of God to others in his name: LOVE.
Deuteronomy 7:9 "Know now then that the Lord your God is the only true God! He is the faithful God, who keeps the covenant and proves loyal to everyone who loves him and keeps his commands—even to the thousandth generation!" The Lord is the ultimate form of love and loyalty. He forgives and cares about His people even when they make mistakes. His love should be modeled towards everyone in your life.
John 2:5 Te Wedding at Cana: Mary’s response to the servants: “His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” The setting is about love-a wedding, when Jesus coming into His ministry. When we read the Bible, attend Mass, receive the Holy Eucharist are we discerning God’s gifs into our day with love? Mary’s words “Do whatever He tells you.” What is Jesus telling us to do today and every day?
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Ephesians 4:2-3 "Conduct yourselves with all humility, gentleness, and patience. Accept each other with love, and make an efort to preserve the unity of the Spirit with the peace that ties you together." Love goes hand-in-hand with things like patience and kindness and being humble. Embrace all of those Godly traits. Please God, guide us to serve, to be charitable with a generous heart.
1 Peter 4:8 "Above all, show sincere love to each other, because love brings about the forgiveness of many sins." We all sin. However, love wins in the battle of evil, so in everything you do, act with love. Ten, you will live a gracious and faithful life. As we start and end our day with praise and thanksgiving, remember too that God wants our battles, to be with us throughout our day. Invite God in-in all you do and His love will come gracefully.
Psalm 119:2 “Blessed are they who observe his decrees, who seek him with all their heart.” Look for the love of God throughout the day and know God loves you!
May the love, mercy and peace of God be with you always,
