Weekend Wisdom - August 12-13
Dear Parishioners,
As the calendar changes to August, we find ourselves at the threshold of a new academic year. It is a time of excitement and anticipation, as our students prepare to return to their classrooms, and our teachers and staff gear up to impart knowledge and wisdom.
In Catholic tradition, education is seen as more than just a means to acquire knowledge; it is a journey toward holiness and an opportunity to grow closer to God. Take a moment to reread that last sentence. As educators, we have the distinct privilege of guiding students on their journeys toward holiness and a closer relationship with God. That is big, bold, beautiful work.
One of Notre Dame of De Pere’s school traditions is to establish a theme to guide this big work. This year’s is inspired by Micah 6:8:
You have been told, O mortal, what is good and what the Lord requires of you:
Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.
Do Justice: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
Love Goodness: Be filled with care, compassion, and forgiveness
Walk Humbly: Follow the Lord with humility and modesty
We look forward to welcoming a little over 420 students on their journey toward holiness in less than a month. Please add all those returning to school to your prayers for this month of August. We pray that hearts and minds may be filled with truth and goodness leading each individual closer to God.
With heart and soul,
Molly Mares
