Weekend Wisdom - August 19-20th

Paul tells us that we should practice godliness in our conduct. First, our conduct should glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Second, we should consider the impact on others before we act (1 Corinthians 10:23-24).

…or whatever you do…”
Paul broadly addresses everything we may do in our lives, within the boundaries of God’s law.  To live the gospels therefore brining the gospels to others.

…do it all for the glory of God.”
All our choices, actions and inactions should be for the praise and honor of God, no matter how small. The focus of our lives should be to put God at the center of our lives and to glorify Him. Our God-centered thinking should permeate every area of our lives: how we worship, work, play, speak, nourish our bodies, spend our money and serve (1 Peter 4:11).

We are called to go, make disciples, to serve and to love “all for the glory of God”.  Welcome to Parish Ministry.  Please notice all those who serve in our parishes.  We have so many wonderful ministries at St. Mary and St. Francis Xavier. I have the everyday blessing of serving with Pastoral Care Ministry.  Pastoral Care Ministers pray for, visit and send cards to our parishioners that are homebound and in nursing facilities. Our visits are joyful visits bring the gift of the Holy Eucharist and prayer.  Our Pastoral Care Ministers are truly living and serving joyfully all for the glory of God.

If you know of a parishioner that would like a visit, please contact one of the parish offices and we will be happy to visit and pray for them.

If you would like to know more about becoming a Pastoral Care Minister, please know it just takes a few steps to get started, and the gift you receive from these visits will bring you peace, love and joy immeasurably.  You will not be alone Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” And, you get me! I will be with you until you are comfortable visiting on your own. Please pray for our Pastoral Care Ministers and those we serve as we need card writers, visitors and coordinators as we continue to grow.  Again, please contact the parish office to discuss becoming a Pastoral Care Minister.

Thank you for your prayers and consideration. May God bless you and your family,

Ellen Moore

Coordinator of Pastoral Care and Evangelization
